Dental Implants FAQ

What is a dental implant?
Dental implants are designed to replace the root of a tooth and restore the physical appearance and the chewing function of patients with partial or full tooth loss. Dental implants are intended for use in either the upper and/or the lower jaw to support replacement teeth. By integrating with the jaw, the implants enable restorations of a single tooth or multiple teeth.

Why should I consider a dental implant?
Dental implants are a long term solution designed to look, feel and function like natural teeth and allow you the freedom to enjoy eating and physical activity again. In addition, dental implants provide a solution that avoids damage to surrounding teeth. Learn more on our dental implants page.

Who is a candidate for dental implants?
People of any age with one or more missing teeth who want to restore their smile and regain their freedom are candidates for dental implants. Contact us to learn more.

How successful are dental implants?
Dental implants successfully integrate with the bone in 97 percent of cases. In the few cases where an implant becomes loose, our doctors will remove it and replace it in a slightly different position so it better integrates with the bone.

How much do dental implants cost?
You can expect to spend $3500 - $7300 to have a single tooth replaced. If extensive restorative work is needed then our team will be able to customize a quote for the necessary work once appropriate treatment has been determined. Your customized quote will be completed as a part of your initial consultation and is designed to include imaging, surgery, lab work and implant procedures.

Will my insurance cover the procedure?
In most cases, insurance companies consider the dental implant process an elective surgery; therefore listing it as a non-benefit. However, dental implants are the most beneficial treatment for replacing teeth and some insurance companies are allowing portions of the treatment to be paid up to your benefit level.

Is the dental implant procedure painful?
As with any surgical procedure there can be some pain associated with the dental implant procedure, but our expert team will do as much as they can to minimize the pain.

If I get an implant do I need to continue to go to the dentist?
After an implant is placed, you will continue to see your dentist for routine cleanings.  In addition, as the years pass, it may be necessary to have your new tooth adjusted as it will wear much like a natural tooth does.
